Who Should Attend?

This meeting is designed for nurses and health professionals who are interested in wound, ostomy and continence issues.

Conference Objectives

  1. Discuss advances in theoretical and clinical knowledge impacting individuals affected by wound, ostomy, or continence issues.
  2. Describe examples of evidence based practice and multidisciplinary (integrative) approaches to enhance outcomes in various health care settings.
  3. Discuss global issues, controversies, challenges and trends affecting wound, ostomy and continence nursing practice.
  4. Participate in networking opportunities and collaborations.
  5. Describe strategies for implementing, justifying, and marketing the wound, ostomy and continence nurse role.
  6. Recognize socioeconomic and cultural challenges in caring for the patient with wound, ostomy, or continence needs.

Continuing Nursing Education

The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN) is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Discussion of any product(s) mentioned in this activity does not imply endorsement by WOCN or ANCC.

WOCN is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 15115.

Attendees can earn up to one nursing contact hour for every hour of educational time and must complete an evaluation for each session attended in order to receive contact hours. Evaluation forms should be submitted online during or after the conference. Up to 17.5 hours may be awarded for the annual conference. This includes the sessions from Sunday, June 13 to Wednesday, June 16, 2010. The commercially-supported symposium and Pre-Conference Workshop contact hours will be awarded separately.

**The actual number of contact hours to be awarded for each session is noted in individual session descriptions. Novice, Proficient, Expert, and Advanced Practice level sessions are featured in this year’s program. We have also identified sessions by specific practice areas.

AANP Credit

This program was planned in accordance with AANP CE Standards and Policies and AANP Commercial Support Standards.

The sessions within this conference that are approved for AANP credit will be marked by an (AP Symbol).Participants will be granted AANP credit for those sessions which they have attended and provided evaluation for.

WOCN is approved for Group Membership for NP’s by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. This Membership entitles WOCN members who are NP’s to a 10% reduction of their annual dues for AANP. The WOCN Group Number is 081122.
